TREATS FOR TROOPS PROGRAM TAKES OFF AT PHL

The Paradies Shops Collect Donations to Support Local USO

PHILADELPHIA — August 16, 2012 — The Paradies Shops, operators of the CNBC News Philadelphia shops at the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) have teamed up with passengers to support the local Liberty USO. Through the “Treats for Troops” programs, travelers shopping at participating Paradies locations can add any store item to their purchase, and the staff will deliver the donated merchandise to the USO to be sent overseas.

Since its launch in June, the program has collected more than 6,000 units of merchandise totaling more than $13,500. Donated items include non-perishable food and beverages, magazines and reading materials, travel-sized sundries and just-for-fun souvenirs or gifts. In addition to customer donations, the Paradies Shops have given 500 neck pillows to Treats for Troops.

“Delivering first-class customer service and being good stewards in the communities we serve go hand-in-hand at The Paradies Shops,“ said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO of The Paradies Shops. “Giving to those in need and paying it forward have always been important to the Paradies family and to The Paradies Shops; and we believe in doing so on a local level, where real community outreach and involvement matter most.”

Throughout its 52-year history, the Paradies Shops and Paradies family have given countless dollars and gifts by sponsoring events, supporting educational scholarships and making charitable donations all focused on strengthening the communities where the company has a presence. Paradies hopes that this donation program will help to create a greater and more lasting social impact on local communities and on the nation by supporting the Troops and USO.

“The Liberty USO is a cause that is important to many of our merchants—especially Paradies Shops,” said Clarence LeJeune, president of MarketPlace Philadelphia Management. “We’re very proud of our passengers and Paradies’ ongoing efforts to benefit this worthy cause.”

MarketPlace Philadelphia Management is the management entity for the food and retail program throughout PHL. The award-winning team is responsible for more than 160 in-line stores, restaurants and services, as well as more than 30 specialty retail units.
