PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WELCOMES POPEYES LOUISIANA CHICKEN

PHILADELPHIA — February 26, 2013 — Philadelphia may be a far cry from Louisiana, but that’s never stopped us from enjoying a taste of the South. Passengers traveling through the Philadelphia International Airport can now satisfy those Southern fried chicken cravings at Popeyes® Louisiana Chicken, located in Concourse C.

In addition to the spicy New Orleans-style chicken the international chain is famous for, Popeyes also serves Southern-fried popcorn shrimp, po’boys, lighter “Louisiana Leaux” items such as the Naked Chicken Wrap and signature sides such as red beans and rice, Cajun fries and buttermilk biscuits.

Although the PHL location has been in operation since early February, representatives from Philadelphia International Airport and Popeyes staff celebrated with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Feb. 25.

“With its one-of-a-kind menu, Popeyes is an exciting new dining option for people traveling through PHL,” said Mel Hannah, vice president and general manager of the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops. “We’re always striving to expand our offerings and provide more of what travelers are looking for at the airport. Popeyes, an internationally recognized and growing brand, fits the bill perfectly.”

The Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops at Philadelphia International Airport already features more than 160 in-line stores, restaurants and services. In the last year alone, it has added Angelina’s Panini Bar, an upscale specialty market; Burrito Elito, a Mexican restaurant; TUMI, a luxury accessories store; and ROSTER, a sports apparel store; among others.
