HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS ARRIVE AT PHILADELPHIA MARKETPLACE FOOD & SHOPS

PHILADELPHIA — Dec. 4, 2012 — Holiday travel will be merry and bright thanks to the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Passengers can enjoy festival events and special holiday sales beginning Dec. 1.

Passengers can get plenty of gift ideas from PHL’s exciting mix of retail merchants. Special gift tables available from 7 a.m.—10 p.m. in the B/C Connector and 7 a.m.—8 p.m. in the D/E Connector will showcase favorite gift items outside of storefronts.

Travelers on-the-go who need a gift for that special someone can take advantage of an exclusive gift with purchase! Shoppers that buy at least $200 of merchandise from any combination of Marketplace retailers will receive a free leaf necklace. The pendant is an actual leaf that has been preserved, hand-painted and then dipped in pure silver. The necklace will be available through December 24, or while supplies last. To redeem your gift, visit Fire & Ice, located in the B/C Connector.

Free gift wrapping will be available from 8 a.m.—9 p.m. from Dec. 1—23, and from 8 a.m.—6 p.m. on Dec. 24 in the B/C Connector. Just present a receipt from a PHL retailer to get your gift ready to give.

Though flying by sleigh rather than plane, Santa will visit PHL’s seven terminals to greet passengers young and old Dec. 1—24 from 4—8 p.m., Dec. 10—24 from 11 a.m.—3 p.m. and Dec. 18—24 (B/C Baggage claim only) from 3—6 p.m.

Passengers can also hear Carolers dressed in Victorian finery performing traditional holiday songs throughout the airport on the following dates:

•    Dec. 7 from 1—3 p.m.
•    Dec. 8 from 2—4 p.m.
•    Dec. 9 from 2—4 p.m.
•    Dec. 13 from 3—5 p.m.
•    Dec. 14 from 2—4 p.m.
•    Dec. 22 from 2—4 p.m.
•    Dec. 23 from 5—7 p.m.

“Every year our merchants look forward to the holiday activities and offerings that help put passengers in the holiday spirit,” said Clarence LeJeune, President of the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops.
