Food & Shops at PHL Debuts New “Flying Colors” Marketing Campaign
Award-Winning MarketPlace Philadelphia Management Showcases 160+ Merchants

PHILADELPHIA—April 13, 2011—Passengers will be “Made in the Shade” while enjoying “Great Flights” before they “Hop a Plane” at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Sound like an ideal airport experience? It is—and travelers will experience all these offerings with MarketPlace Philadelphia Management’s new “Flying Colors” campaign.
Flying Colors is the new marketing and public service campaign promoting more than 160 stores and eateries at PHL. The just-launched campaign features color as a powerful and revolving design element. Each piece uses color to create a vibrant canvas to showcase items that can be found in the retail and dining mix at PHL. Creative copywriting ties the featured product or service back to the airport. In the background of each piece, a tapestry of merchant logos is subtly featured to reinforce the diversity of the offerings at PHL.
MarketPlace Philadelphia Management has been responsible for the development, leasing, management and marketing of the concessions program at PHL since 1995. To create and execute the Flying Colors campaign, MarketPlace Philadelphia Management collaborated with longtime agency partner Jack Horner Communications Inc.
“It’s our goal to engage travelers and support our many merchants,” said Clarence LeJeune, President of Marketplace Philadelphia Management, LLC. “Our new marketing campaign uses creativity to remind passengers that Philadelphia International Airport is a fun place to be.”
The launch of the new campaign underscores the ongoing growth and expansion at the airport. In partnership with PHL and US Airways, MarketPlace is currently working on a dramatic expansion of the food and retail program in Terminal F. In February 2010, the airport unveiled the Terminal E expansion, home to new food and news offerings as well as seven additional Southwest Airlines gates.
MarketPlace Philadelphia Management was recently named “Best Concessions Management Team” by Airport Revenue News (ARN), a leading aviation trade publication. The ARN Best Airport & Concessionaire Awards are reflective of the excellence that the airport and concessionaire winners bring to the business. Additionally, five merchants at PHL were recognized by ARN in their respective categories.
