COFFEE LOVERS UNITE: STARBUCKS OPENS FIRST-EVER LOCATION AT PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Philadelphia MarketPlace Adds To Its Diverse Lineup of 170+ Food and Retail Offerings

PHILADELPHIA — June 23, 2014 — It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). The grand opening of Starbucks Coffee took place today in PHL’s B/C Connector.

Representatives from the MarketPlace Philadelphia Management, the Department of Aviation, HMSHost and Starbucks celebrated the arrival of the world-famous coffee brand with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Rina Cutler, Deputy Mayor of Transportation and Utilities for Philadelphia, was on-hand to offer remarks and enjoy the first official cup of coffee.

“Philadelphia International Airport is a world-class destination, so we are continuously looking to establish partnerships with global brands such as Starbucks to expand our offerings for passengers,” said Mel Hannah, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Philadelphia Management.

The PHL Starbucks location is operated by global restaurateur HMSHost, which has a longstanding partnership with the brand. Since 1971, Starbucks Coffee Company has been committed to ethically sourcing and roasting high-quality arabica coffee. Today, with stores around the globe, the company is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world. Passengers can expect traditional Starbucks food and beverage options.

Throughout the next few months passengers will notice a few other new retail additions throughout the seven terminals at PHL. A new Pandora location opened its doors earlier this month, and PHL is set to welcome L’Occitane and Finish Line later this summer.

Travelers through PHL have more than 170 locations for shopping and dining. For more information about the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops, please visit www.philamarketplace.com
